I believe in a simple truth: clothing is the way we announce ourselves to the world.
I also believe that beautiful clothing should never come at the expense of the people who create it. Beautiful things should be beautifully made, by skilled craftspeople who are treated with dignity, paid fairly, and work in safe conditions.
Too much of today's clothing is produced with little regard for the people who make it or how long it will last. The pursuit of ever-cheaper clothing has contributed to a global culture of disposable fashion.
But change begins with a few simple decisions: the decision to buy better, wear longer, and mend regularly.
This philosophy guides everything we create.
From our home in Boise, Idaho, I design outerwear and tailoring using exceptional materials sourced from around the world: Australian and English wools, Japanese textiles, natural horn, and leather. Each garment is developed alongside experienced patternmakers and sewn in small quantities in Manhattan's historic Garment District.
Each piece is meant to be worn and cherished for decades, not days.
I founded Martindale because I believe there are women like me who want something different: beautifully designed, thoughtfully made clothing that becomes part of their lives for years to come.
